What is A billet?

A billet family provides a "home away from home" for a young ball player, typically between the ages of 18 and 22. Generally, these players are coming to Swift Current, looking for playing time to improve themselves for the upcoming collegiate season. These players are joining the 57’s from potentially all over the world, and that is where you come in. 

Becoming a billet family is one of the most meaningful roles in sports. You’re not just offering a bed and meals—you’re giving a young player the chance to pursue their dreams in a safe, stable, and supportive home.

What are we looking for?

Billets will provide a private furnished bedroom, have food available in the house, access to laundry and of course, a welcoming family-like environment.

Billet FAQ’s

  • The WCBL season runs from late May until mid August. Typically players are in Swift for the duration of the season.

  • Players are typically between the ages of 18 and 22. Generally, these players are coming to Swift Current, looking for playing time to improve themselves for the upcoming collegiate season. These players are joining the 57’s from potentially all over the world, and that is where you come in. 

  • Yes.
    We offer bi-weekly compensation for each household to help cover expenses. Furthermore, all billet families have access to select discounts in our community.

  • Most definitely!

    There are occasions when players are recruited from the same college and would like to stay together to make the adjustment easier, while others love the opportunity to meet new people.

  • Our role as billet coordinators is to manage placement and support for both the players and the families. If there are any problems or concerns please contact us. Remember, communication is the key.

  • A lot of the players will be coming up with their own vehicle. Those that do not have transportation during the season will be responsible from getting transportation from teammates that have access to their own vehicle.
